Before a Cheyenne SWAT unit rescued an abducted Colorado woman, officers pulled a man from a burning motel room in an unrelated fire.

Wyoming police made a dramatic rescue of a kidnapping victim while also saving a man from an unrelated fire Wednesday.

A statewide alert was issued in Colorado after a Rio Blanco County woman was forcibly abducted, the Cheyenne Police Department stated in a news release. Authorities found that Joseph Beecher, 48, had allegedly kidnapped the woman and taken her to the Stage Coach Motel in Cheyenne.

At around 11:15 p.m., Cheyenne police reached the motel, and officer set up a perimeter. Beecher's vehicle was spotted in the parking lot, and police determined that he and the woman were in a room.

As the Cheyenne Police Department's Joint SWAT unit was headed to the scene, an unrelated fire broke out it in a nearby room. Two police officers rushed to the burning room and pulled a man from it.

Once the SWAT unit arrived, officers conducted a hostage rescue operation. They breached the room, rescuing the woman and arresting Beecher.

The woman was reunited with her family. It was unclear if she suffered any injuries.

Beecher was booked into the Laramie County Jail and faces multiple charges.
